$375,000 VALUE of Support Announced for Queensland Startups & ScaleUps

Applications are open for the QuantumTX Queensland METS and Technology Incubator 2024 Program, offering startups and SMEs a transformative opportunity for growth and innovation.

The QuantumTX 2024 Queensland METS Technology Incubator Program, co-funded by the Queensland State Government, is set to empower 15 startup and scaleup businesses over a 12-week intensive journey, providing each with invaluable access to mining companies, business training, mentoring, and a range of business experts to the value of $25,000.

QuantumTX is the largest METS sector incubator in the Southern Hemisphere and has delivered more than $4 million of support to 164 startups and SMEs across the country. Participants gain access to over 50 experts from leading companies, meet with potential capital investors and collaborators, and are mentored by senior experts nationally.

Speakers that participants will meet include experts from Rio Tinto, BHP, Nova Systems, Hitachi, Oz Minerals, Q-Metco, Robotics Australia Group, AROSE, Imdex, Perenti, Microsoft, Fugro, Austrade, The Office of Defence Innovation, CSIRO and the Australian Space Agency.

“Queensland boasts a world-leading METS and innovation sector, and through this accelerator program, we connect innovative businesses to corporations, funders and support to enable rapid scaling that will further contribute to the state's thriving economy,” said Peter Rossdeutscher, Founder of QuantumTX.

“Through QuantumTX, we provide pathways for small businesses to scale across the METS, clean energy, defence, space and technology sectors.  Nurturing local and regional companies to solve critical challenges with applications that transcend multiple sectors.”

The value of this program to the sector is far greater than the $375,000 of free support.  Participants will benefit from introductions to mining companies, tier 1 suppliers and venture capital funding providers.  They also receive support in profile raising, staff development, technology alignment and export readiness.  The program culminates with a showcase event in Brisbane.

The 2024 program will support a diverse range of innovations, addressing critical industry imperatives such as optimisation, decarbonization, productivity and safety.

“The program makes direct introductions to industry and potential export pathways as businesses scale up, which is one of the best ways to increase national competitiveness,” said Kylah Morrison, Quantum TX’s Program Director.

“Late stage TRL researchers are also encouraged to apply and commercialise with industry support. Prominent companies in all major Queensland sectors support Quantum TX with a particular focus on new and innovative solutions, solutions from the regions and from our First Nations people.”

Queensland has a world-leading METS sector that employs 30,000 people across Queensland, with $7B revenue and $3.07B in value add to its economy.  It boasts exceptional depth and excellence in digital capabilities for safety, productivity, and environmental impact.

Past alumni of the QuantumTX Queensland program have achieved remarkable success, with businesses like Universal Field Robotics, Gilmore Space Technologies, Carbon Compass, Real Serious Games, Vaulta, HINDSITE Industries, Valenhold, BIA5, Safety IQ, Mipac and Fleet Path Technologies leading the charge in innovation and market impact.

Liam Scanlan, COO/Co-founder of HINDSITE Industries and a participant in QuantumTX Queensland 2022, shared his enthusiasm for the program: “Hindsite has been a great beneficiary QuantumTX. It has helped us win an Accelerate Commercialisation Grant as well as build and expand with over a dozen foundational customers in the sector including BHP, Groundprobe, Downer, Mineral Technologies, IMDEX and Sandvik.”

For startups and SMEs eager to embark on a transformative journey of growth and success, applications for the QuantumTX accelerator program are now open. The QuantumTX program is funded by the Queensland Government and corporate support.

The QuantumTX incubator program's continued success has helped cement Australia's position at the cutting-edge of industrial technology applied across the nation's leading sectors.
